24th National Australian Convention of Amateur Astronomers2nd to 5th April 2010 (Easter)
Rydges Capital Hill Hotel Cnr Canberra Ave and National Circuit CANBERRA ACT The next National Australian Convention of Amateur Astronomers (the 24th) will be held during Easter 2010 (2nd - 5th April) at Canberra in the ACT. It is being hosted by the Canberra Astronomical Society, who is providing the members of the Local Organising Committee and some members of the Programme Committee, including the Chair. The organisation is being assisted by the NACAA Incorporated Secretariat. The program contains an exciting mix of distinguished speakers, workshops, round-table sessions, and other activities. Add in around 20 speakers and posters, and we confident that this will be a very successful NACAA. Please visit our web site - www.nacaa.org.au - for further information. The program is very full, and covers a diverse range of topics. There are two very interesting workshops on the Friday afternoon, a round-table on variable star research, the inaugural John Perdrix Address, some great guest speakers, a very full programme of talks and posters, and the Fourth Trans-Tasman Symposium on Occultations on the Monday. And there's the chance of another surprise or two yet to come as the programme is bedded in. The Local Organising Committee has also organised some great social events, including a tour of Mt Stromlo prior to the Sunday BBQ, an optional excursion to the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex at Tidbinbilla on the Monday, a Welcome Reception on the Friday, and a Convention Dinner on the Saturday. NACAA XXIV promises to be a great convention, and we hope that you will take the opportunity to attend the event and enjoy all that we have to offer. The registration packages are very flexible, ranging from just a half-day for ACT locals who have a specific session that they'd like to attend, through to the full four-day experience. NACAA Inc has tried hard to keep the registrations cost as low as possible, in spite of some significant increases in our costs. The main registration fee of $265 is only $15 higher than 2008, and we believe this represents excellent value for money for such a great weekend. We are happy to announce that registrations for NACAA XXIV are now open. To find all the information about NACAA XXIV, please visit http://nacaa.org.au/2010. From here you can obtain full information about the programme, registrations, social events, accommodation, and transport details. Looking forward to seeing you all in Canberra at Easter. |
