1.The trial of email partnerships between librarians/information specialists in developing countries and those in developed countries, is now being established. Letters inviting the first group of partners will be posted this week. This trial goup will be monitored for a few months and the feed back from this group will assist with the organisation of all future partnerships. We should have all those interested in participating involved by the middle of next year.

2. The PAM-APF Co-ordinator was invited to attend the Asia Pacfic Higher Education Research Network initial workshop held in Manila, Philippines, and put forward the benefits of the involvement of libraries. The involvement of libraries is now seen as a an important aspect to be developed in the future. Brief details on this meeting are available at the web site:

Christina Louis has been invited to present a paper on the development of PAM-APF at the Conference on Recent Advances in Information Technology 1999, READIT-99, October 28-29, 1999, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, India.
