Pictures of Installation of Fairchild Imager Mechanical
Sample onto Detector Mount Block
Introduction to the FI (4kx4k, 15um) Detector Assembly.
The following images show the FI Mechanical Sample CCD, i.e. a device which is a
complete package, but with no silicon mounted, which can therefore be used in the
design and alignment process to ensure we build parts with the correct spec. and tolerances.
Thanks again go to Peter C., Andrew G. (Mech. Des.),
Errol K., Andre dG, Bernie K. (Elec.),
Col V., Ross T. & Robbie C. (Wkshop)
for their efforts in getting the test system components ready and making
'stuff' go so well...
:-)
Pictures of Assembly Process taken on 19th January.
1. Internal dewar pic showing rear of DMB
2. Close up of back of DMB showing Temp servo and LED componenets
3. Close Up of LN2 can showing (DT471) Temp. sensor
4. Close up of internal parts of dewar showing PCB connectivity
to 55-way hermetic feedthrough connector
5. Another close up of DMB components
6. Close up of braids use for themal coupling to cold sink -
i.e. LN2 Can
7. C;ose up of front surface of Detector mount block showing
calibration LEDs & dewar PCB connector
8. Close up of internal PCB connector
9. Front of block showing Mechanical Sample mounted on DMB
10. Another view - this time showing both Test Systems -
TD#1 for SkyMapper E2V 2kx4k CCDs on the left and
TD#2 for WiFeS Fairchild IMager 4kx4k CCDs on the right
11. Final close up of the WiFeS, Fairchild Imager Assembly before sealing the
dewar for the 1st cold test
