Galactic Structure Research
The SEKBO RR Lyrae Survey
From a search of 1675 square degrees we have located over 2000 RR Lyrae candidates in a 20-degree wide band around the ecliptic. Our sample slices through the orbital plane of the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy that is been torn apart by the Milky Way. The streams of debris are seen as the bands of RR Lyrae over density in the figure below.
